This step comes during the International Public ICANN Meeting which is taking
place in Paris June 22-26, 2008. Under the expected loosening, domains
like .mac, .xxx or .bbc might be approved. The proposed deregulation will
also allow the internationalization of domain names allowing additional
languages and characters to be used in the registration of domains. The
sources revealed that discussions also tackled the new recommended voting power
on the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) with the ICANN Board; this
will be decided Thursday as well Source: www.webhostdir.com | | | | |
