Hosting companies can leverage the value and functionality of open source
software to bring enterprise-class applications to their customers -- "A Match
Made in Heaven," according to Rafael Laguna, CEO of Open-Xchange Inc., who will
speak on the topic at the HostingCon event in Chicago next
week.
“Internet service providers, telecommunications companies, mobile
carriers, web hosting companies and service providers all have lots of
experience running open source software. In fact, the whole Internet with its
150 million websites and 1.5 billion e-mail accounts is built with open source,"
says Laguna. "It has made the Internet what it is today."
The CEO of the
leading provider of open source groupware asserts that hosting companies,
telcos, and Internet companies can benefit from open source programs delivered
in the SaaS (Software as a Service) model to their customers.
He speaks
from experience with leading hosting providers -- led by Network Solutions (U.
S.), 1&1 Internet (U.S. and Germany), JMF (Japan), OVH (France), and
Hostpoint (Switzerland) -- providing full groupware solutions built on
Open-Xchange open source software.
Open-Xchange offers email, calendar,
contacts, tasks and document sharing to provide companies with all the tools
needed to facilitate communication and efficient teamwork. Customers can improve
communication and teamwork with simple, intuitive tools and intelligent
features, such as smart links between calendar appointments, task lists,
contacts, documents, bookmarks and knowledge articles.
